Student hit by vehicle near Olympia High School in Orange County, troopers say

A student was hit by a vehicle near Olympia High School on Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. 

The crash happened on South Apopka Vineland Road near Conroy Windermere Road around 7:15 a.m.

What we know:

 A 15-year-old girl was reportedly crossing a marked crosswalk on South Apopka Vineland when she was hit, officials said. 

The girl was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, FHP said. 

FHP said that preliminary information shows the suspected driver – a 65-year-old Orlando woman – may have experienced a medical episode while driving. The driver was taken to Dr. Phillips Hospital. 

Officials said the driver told them she lost consciousness and was unaware that she hit the girl. 

What we don't know:

The student's name has not been released at this time.
