Melbourne officer bitten by dog

MELBOURNE, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - A Melbourne police officer was bitten by a dog while responding to a call. 

Investigators say the officer was knocking on a woman's door when the dog got loose and bit him. Officials say the officer needed stitches but is otherwise okay. 

The dog was handed over to animal control and the owner was fined.
