SANFORD, Fla (WOFL FOX 35) - On Monday night a Mars viewing party was held at the planetarium at Seminole State College in Sanford to provide those interested with a unique look at the red planet.
The event began around 8:30 Monday night at the Emil Buehler Perpetual Trust Planetarium at Seminole State College with telescopes made available to those who attended.
Mars is now visible from Earth and will be throughout the week. The red planet is opposite of the sun giving you a great chance to see it with your own eyes.
NASA's Hubble Telescope has already been snapping pictures of Mars' rare alignment. May 30th will be the closest Mars has been to Earth since November of 2005.
