Man accused of kidnapping, robbing victim in online dating set-up

A Volusia County man is behind bars after deputies say he kidnapped a man looking for love and tried to force him to withdraw money from his bank.

Deputies say Denzel Williams, 20, shoved a gun in the victim's face after the man drove to a DeLand home to meet up with a woman he met online.

Detectives say the victim told Williams he had money in the bank, so Williams and the woman forced the man into their car and drove to two different ATMs.

After finding out the victim lied about the money, Williams stopped at a gas station.

Detectives say that's when the victim was able to get away.

That happened two weeks ago.

On Saturday, deputies spotted Williams' car and he was taken into custody.
