A major traffic shift is happening on Interstate 4 (I-4) in Maitland.

Starting at 5 a.m. on Wednesday, the exit point to eastbound Maitland Boulevard from westbound I-4 will shift to a new location. This means that drivers will have to exit about a half mile earlier to get to Exit 90A.

Before, drivers were almost right under Maitland Boulevard when they exited, but now Exit 90 will handle all I-4 drivers who want to use Lake Destiny Road and both directions of Maitland Boulevafrd.

There are new signs direction drivers on where to go, but the I-4 Ultimate Public Information Officer, David Parks, says that "If you miss the exit, don't stop on I-4. Continue west down to Lee Road, and either use the city road to get back to Maitland Boulevard or you can get on eastbound I-4 and then return back to Maitland Boulevard interchange. Make a good mental note of it. Don't stop on I-4."

Officials say that all of the I-4 construction in Maitland is on track to be completed by year 2020.
