Lightning strikes home in Rockledge

Firefighters responded to a lightning strike at a home in Rockledge around 4 p.m. on Monday.  Shingles were blown off to the lawn and the bolt also left a hole in the roof, according to the resident Jeff Mills.  He said his wife was charging her cell phone when the lightning struck.

"You could hear the lightning strike seven minutes away, then five, then it hit," explained Mills.  "Large flash, big bang, and her phone zapped out of her hand, because it went through the electrical into her hand and through the phone."

Mills said his wife was unharmed, but they did experience some damage to their computer equipment and television set.
