LAKE WALES, Fla. - 11 people in five vehicles were involved in a crash that killed four people on State Road 60 East near Capps Road in Lake Wales, according to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.
What we know:
Deputies say a Chevrolet Equinox and a Chevrolet Malibu were both traveling westbound on SR-60 when the driver of the Equinox attempted to change lanes and clipped the front of the Malibu, sending it across the center median and directly into the path of eastbound traffic.

A Toyota Tacoma then slammed into the passenger side of the Equinox, killing all four people inside.
After being clipped, the Malibu went airborne into the eastbound lanes and flipped multiple times. The driver was taken to the hospital with significant injuries.
After the initial collision, the Tacoma was struck by a Toyota Corolla and then pushed into the path of an F-150. The driver of the Corolla was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and investigators say four children in the car were "minimally" injured and taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
The driver of the Tacoma was airlifted to the hospital for significant injuries.
State Road 60 was closed for several hours on Wednesday evening. Judd said that his homicide team is investigating the crash.
What they're saying:
"We ask for prayers for all of them. Five vehicles, 11 involved, four fatalities, and our heart breaks for all of them," Judd said.
