On Tuesday, a crane practically cut a home in half in Baldwin Park. Now this Wednesday, investigators are back on scene trying to piece together what happened.

The homeowner says that this two-story home can be repaired, even though it has suffered some significant structural damage and they can no longer live in it at this time. Right underneath the tarp on the home's roof looks like a giant karate chop in the middle of the million dollar home.  The gap is about three to four feet wide.

The homeowner says that the crane damaged the attic and the space over the foyer. He says it is a blessing that his wife and kids were at work and school at the time of the accident. He says his home was in the process of getting some repair work done and roof replaced due to damage from Hurricane Irma last year. Now, crews have a lot more work cut out for them. The homeowner hopes that his insurance will cover all of this damage.

Neighbors still cannot believe their eyes when looking at the home that is split down the middle. Code enforcement and the Beyel Brothers Crane and Rigging Company are investigating how something like this could happen.

Investigators will be back on scene Wednesday trying to assess the extent of the damage. The homeowner tells us a structural engineer will be on site to see about permitting for repairs.
