A large semi-truck fire shut down parts of Interstate 10 at 40th Street in Phoenix on Friday.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the driver of a semi-truck lost control of the vehicle while traveling westbound on I-10 near 40th Street at 9:43 a.m.

The semi-truck hit the center median and caught fire. The trailer then went over the barrier and into the eastbound lanes of traffic.

DPS says the driver escaped safely and the trailer was empty.

Just before 2:00 p.m., ADOT stated that all lanes were open at I-10 and 40th St. after the earlier semi fire, but to expect delays in the area, especially westbound.
