BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. - Update (4:07 p.m.): The northbound lanes have reopened.
Interstate 95 has been closed in both directions in Brevard County due to a nearby brush fire and smoke, which is causing visibility issues, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
What we know:
Both northbound and soundbound I-95 are closed between mile marker 166 (Saint John's Heritage Parkway) and mile marker 173 (Malabar Road), FHP said.
Southbound I-95 is being diverted at Exit 173 (State Route 514). Northbound traffic is being diverted at Exit 166 (St. Johns Heritage Parkway)
Detours
- Motorists traveling southbound on I-95 should turn left onto eastbound S.R. 514 (Malabar Road), turn right onto southbound U.S. 1, and turn right onto westbound S.R. 60 before returning to I-95.
- Motorists traveling northbound on I-95 should turn left onto westbound St. Johns Heritage Parkway, turn right onto northbound Babcock Street, and turn left onto westbound S.R. 514 before returning to I-95.
