Homeless man accused of robbing Longwood elderly couple
LONGWOOD, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Seminole County deputies are searching for a homeless man they say robbed an elderly couple inside a Longwood home.
The suspect has been identified as Jeff Murphy, 55.
The couple told deputies that Murphy came over for a visit.
Once inside, he asked the man and woman for money, but they refused.
That's when deputies say the suspect armed himself with a knife from the kitchen and demanded that the woman write a check for $5,500.
The couple says he then tied them up in a bedroom and stole jewelry, credits cards and cash from the home on Golden Birch Lane.
Deputies say Murphy took off in the couple's 2014 white Ford Focus with the Florida tag 116-QYQ.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
