The backstory:
According to the Bell County Sheriff's Office, on August 12, around 1:33 p.m., the sheriff's office received a 911 call about a helicopter crash.
When deputies arrived, they found the crash, which had also sparked a grass fire.

Deadly helicopter crash in Salado
Two people are dead following a helicopter crash in Salado. According to Fort Hood officials, this was a military chopper.
According to Fort Hood officials, this was an AH-64 Apache attack helicopter that was based at Fort Hood.
Two soldiers were killed.
The service members have been transported to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Hood.

"Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the families, friends, and fellow Troopers of those involved during this incredibly difficult time," said Brig. Gen. Ethan Diven, 1st Cavalry Division, acting commanding general.

A major grass fire had sparked due to the crash.
According to Salado Fire | Bell County ESD 1, firefighters were working to put out the grass fire on FM 2843 near the 100 Block of Dove Hollow Ln.
The grass fire has been 100% contained.
