Former preschool teacher receives 15 years probation for molesting student

A former VPK teacher was sentenced on Tuesday for molesting a child at a Baldwin Park daycare facility.

25-year-old Jayrico Hamilton, a former teacher at Bright Horizons in Baldwin Park, pleaded guilty on three counts of lewd or lascivious conduct. He was sentenced to 15 years probation with 15 years of supervision.

The parents of the victim told Fox 35 that the case may be over, but the damage cannot be undone. "To get up everday and see the sadness in your child's eye -- he's sad and 6-year-old little boys shouldn't be sad."

The victim's parents called this the worst thing that they have ever had to deal with. They said that they now have to do everything they can to make their child's pain go away.  "We are doing everything we can to take the sadness away and we don't know if the sadness will ever go away," they said.

Lawyers for the victim's family said that Hamilton should have never worked at the daycare, as he had a history of abuse in Virginia before he was fired.

Hamilton also must not make any contact with the victim or the victim's family or return to Baldwin or Autobahn Park. He also cannot dress as Santa Claus, a clown, or hand out candy.
