Ford has issued a recall for 108,762 Escape vehicles due to liftgate hinge covers that may detach.
In a Dec. 1 recall letter, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration explained that car owners may notice the liftgate hinge cover is not fully seated, and they may hear wind noise and rattling noises while driving.
What Ford Escapes are being recalled?
Why you should care:
Ford recalled certain 2020-2022 Escape and 2025 Escape cars. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated in a recall notice that the liftgate cover attachments on the 2020-2022 cars were completely engaged in some instances during vehicle assembly.

NHTSA officials also noted a supplier quality issue and potential contact between the vehicle’s liftgate, and hinge covers during liftgate opening for detachment on the 2025 Escape vehicles.
Are repairs available for the recalled Ford Escapes?
What you can do:
Owners of the recalled cars can take them to a local Ford or Lincoln dealership to have the liftgate hinge covers removed, inspected, and reinstalled/secured to their car for free.
Letters informing owners of the safety risk associated with the recall will be mailed on Jan. 15, and follow-up letters will also be distributed once a remedy is available.
