Florida woman hits attacker in the face with cellphone, police say

A victim of an attack outside of a South Florida nightclub fought back against her assailant, hitting him in the face with her cellphone.

The incident occurred on St. Patrick's Day outside of the El Reventon Sports Bar & Club, reported the Sun-Sentinel. 18-year-old Henrry Gonazlez Thomas approached a woman and reportedly asked her "How much to get with you?" The victim told him that she was not a prostitute though and attempted to walk around him to approach the nightclub.

This is when, according to the Sun-Sentinel, Thomas punched the woman in the face, giving her a severe cut above her right eyebrow. He reportedly pulled her to the ground and tried to pull her dress up.

The newspaper continued to recall the event, stating that the woman victim fought back, using the hand that was clutching her cellphone to smack Thomas in the face and kick at him. Thomas was still able to get his hands around her neck and start choking her though.

Witnesses eventually came to help, the newspaper reported. Thomas ran off, but was chased down and held until deputies arrived. He was found with a cocaine in his possession.

Thomas has been booked into the Broward jail for attempted sexual assault and cocaine possession. He remains in jail with a bond totaling $11,000, the Sun-Sentinel stated.
