Florida officer dies after collapsing during training exercise

SANIBEL, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - The Sanibel Police Department is mourning the loss of Officer Anthony Neri who died on Monday after a training exercise. 

According to the City of Sanibel, Neri collapsed during a training exercise and was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

City officials say he died of natural causes.

Neri was a dedicated officer, having joined the Sanibel Police Department in 2012 as a Police Aide before being promoted and becoming an officer in 2015.
