EDGEWOOD, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - Edgewood police have made an arrest in the beating of a pregnant woman and her husband during a crash involving a group of ATV riders last month.
Police had issued a warrant for James E. McCoy. He was taken into custody on Friday in Miami where he lives by the Miami Dade Police Department.

Police believe he was involved in an incident from March 24 in Orlando that occurred at the intersection of Holden Avenue and Orange Avenue.
According to investigators, McCoy was part of a group that caused a hit-and-run crash. A pregnant woman and her spouse were ultimately attacked by the group when she got out of her car.
McCoy is being held on $7,000 bail. He's charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant person and aggravated battery.
Orange County Sheriff John Minasaid police agencies throughout Central Florida have discussed tactics for cracking down on ATV riders after several dangerous incidents, including dragging a deputy.
Last weekend, 12 riders were arrested.
