Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol have located a vehicle which they said has damage that is consistent with a hit-and-run incident.

FHP towed a white, 2000 Toyota Avalon for inspection, in connection with the hit and run that occurred on Saturday, September 22, along Alafaya Trail.  Traffic camera video of the incident was released by FHP on Wednesday. althought the actual hit-and-run collision was just out of frame.

Cody Loechner, 13, was struck while riding his bicycle, and the driver fled the scene, in a white passenger vehicle.

“You didn’t care if that person was dead or alive. You just kept going and left them there like a stray animal,” said Tami Loechner, Cody's mother.  “He’s going to have to relearn how to walk again, how to eat again, how to write again. He has a very, very long road of recovery ahead of him.”

"The owner of the vehicle is cooperating with troopers.  This is an ongoing, pending criminal investigation, so we are unable to release additional details, at this time," said FHP Lt. Kim Montes in a news release late Thursday. "Once we are able to release more information, an update will be sent out."

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact FHP.
