FDLE investigating officer-involved shooting
LONGWOOD, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating after a shooting in Seminole County involving an officer-involved that left one person wounded.
Agents with the City-County Investigative Bureauon Thursday afternoon said they witnessed a drug transaction in the parking lot of a Chevron, located at the intersection of State Road 434 and Champion Avenue in the Longwood area.
"Agents surrounded the suspect vehicle in which the transaction was occurring. Agents gave the male suspect sitting in the driver’s seat, multiple commands to show his hands and exit the vehicle," said Seminole County Sheriff's Office spokesman Bob Kealing. "However, the suspect refused to comply."
Keeling said that during the attempted apprehension of the suspect, an agent fired multiple rounds wounding the man. He was conscious and alert and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He has been identified as 28-year-old Adesho Lavel Francis.
The Seminole County Sheriff's Office says that once Francis is released from the hospital, he will be booked into the John e. Polk Correctional Facility on charges of Trafficking Heroin and Fentanyl.
A female sitting in the passenger seat suffered minor injuries and was also transported to a local hospital.
The agent has been placed on administrative leave.
