Father demands answers after child left in daycare closet
CUMMING, Ga. - It was supposed to be a normal pick-up at daycare last Thursday.
Father Tony Moore said he did not see his little boy, but he heard him crying. A few seconds later, Moore said the 16-month-old came walking out of a storage closet.
The child had been left in there for nearly 10 minutes. When the dad looked at the in-house video from Discovery Point daycare in Cumming, he saw a staffer walk into the closet. The child followed right behind. A few seconds later, the teacher walked out and closed the door.
Moore said he wants answers. He believes his child cried out before he arrived. He wants to know how the boy was left alone for that amount of time, and where were the nearest staff members who did not notice that he was not in the room.
Bright From the Start, which is the state agency that regulates facilities, confirmed it has opened an investigation.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has also taken a look at the incident. A spokesperson called it an accident.
