Family dog dies in Altamonte Springs apartment fire
SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Seminole County Fire Department responded to a 2-alarm apartment fire at 4:52 a.m. at Autumn Ridge Apartments located in the 600 block of Northlake Blvd. in the City of Altamonte Springs.
Three occupants were inside and two escaped. A 12-year-old girl and 59-year-old woman escaped without injury. Firefighters were able to rescue a 62-year-old man that suffered from fire related injuries. The man was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center in serious condition.
Unfortunately a family dog perished in the fire.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family. The City of Altamonte Springs Building and Life Safety Division's Fire Investigators are investigating the cause of the fire. The preliminary cause was smoking related.
