Dog rescued, given oxygen after being trapped in house fire

The New Smyrna Beach Fire Department and the Volusia County Professional Firefighters Association responded to a house fire on Saturday, where a trapped dog had to be saved.

The fire happened at a home on Fairmont Avenue in New Smyrna Beach.

During a search of the home, firefighters say a small dog was found underneath the bed in the master bedroom.

Officials say the dog was immediately carried outside and given oxygen via a pet rescue mask. They said the dog is healthy and back with its owner.

Firefighters say the fire was contained to the garage attic, and the cause remains under investigation.

Fortunately, no one was hurt in the fire, including firefighters.
