Deputies want to question man in child luring case

Orange County deputies are trying to identify a man who is wanted for questioning regarding the luring of a child.

The incident happened Wednesday at the Buena Vista Place apartments, according to investigators.

“Basically, we were walking from the bus stop in a group,” said Kaylee Serrano, who says she was there when it happened.

She says she and some of her friends from middle school had just been dropped off at the apartment complex in Windermere. She says one girl was walking ahead of them.

“She was like standing by the playground, and she was by herself, and that’s when the guy pulled up next to her,” Serrano said. “He like opened the door of his car – and he was like, ‘Come here. Come into my car.’ And she said, ‘No.’ She ignored him so she pretended to be on the phone.”

Serrano, 13, says after that, her friend came back to rejoin the others. That’s when she filled everyone in on what had just happened.

“When we were standing there in a group, we didn’t realize that the guy was parked right next to us. We look over and are like, ‘Why is he starting at us?’ And she was like, ‘That’s the guy!’”

Orange County deputies released a sketch of a person who they say they want to question. They say he was in a green, two-door Ford pick-up.

Serrano says the man finally pulled out of the complex after she pulled out her phone and said aloud that her father was coming to meet them.

Parents at the complex tell The News Station they’re watching their children closely.

Deputies say they’re following up on some leads.
