ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - Orlando International Airport was still experiencing delays and cancellations on Saturday after bad weather led to travel havoc, on Friday.
There was still a lot of red on the board Saturday, but things in the terminal were calmer than they were Friday, when passengers scrambled to make last-minute bookings and reservations to deal with the cancelled or delayed flights. Rachel Girarden's flight was one of them, she was trying to get home to Milwaukee.
“We got an email last night but we were already in bed. When we got up this morning at 4:30 we got an email saying our flight was cancelled. We came to the airport and the earliest we can get home, and not even home - it's go Chicago at eight tomorrow night!” Girarden said.
Girarden said it ruined their holiday plans. “We were going to church tomorrow and breakfast with my family,” she said.
The weather also affected inbound flights. Win, Kristen and their kids waited for seven hours in Atlanta before their flight to Orlando could finally take off.
“Ultimately we were okay,” Win said, “we knew safety first, so we understood and the pilots and crew were apologetic, saying we really don't know when we'll go, too, it's all up to the FAA.”
With the possibility of delays and cancellations continuing today, it's a good idea if you have a flight today to check with your airline for the latest updates.
