DeLand landmark vandalized
DELAND, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The City of DeLand said about nine spots throughout the downtown area were vandalized with red spray paint, sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning.
All of the graffiti tags included the same red symbol and were left on several businesses, doors, and other spots throughout the area. One of the spots hit was the popular DeLand Wings mural.
The painting in Pill Ally was put up by artist Erica Group who got the call from a local business owner Tuesday saying it had been tagged.
The red paint, luckily, was left between the wings, so the artist was able to repair it quickly and restore the popular selfie spot.
DeLand Police are asking anyone with information in the graffiti crime spree to contact them at 386-626-7400 or submit an anonymous tip at www.delandpd.com.
