DeLand corporal facing punishment, disciplinary committee to review

DELAND, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - A DeLand corporal is facing a possible punishment over the way he handled a trespasser.

The scene under review today by a disciplinary committee unfolds outside of a DeLand 7-11. Corporal Ken Ramkisson and two officers are responding to a call from the clerk and two men trespassing.  Ramkisson is seen on the fellow officer's body camera yelling at one of the men on a bench in front of the store.  It all makes Officer Allison Bainbridge so upset, so she walks and then files a complaint.

The Chief of Police told Fox 35 that "Corporal Ramkissoon had used profanities and other language that was unprofessional and threatening toward the two subjects. The use of profanities directed toward the public and/or using unprofessional and discourteous speech violates our standards of conduct."

The Chief of Police also says that the two men were ultimately cited for trespassing, but that does not excuse the corporal's behavior. The committee is expected to decide how he'll be pushing for that behavior later today.
