Death investigation underway in Brevard County
MIMS, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - The Brevard County Sheriff's Office is conducting a death investigation after a man's body was found near a roadway in Mims.
Deputies responded to the area of U.S. 1 and Brockett Road around 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning. They said they had received a call about a body that appeared to have been struck by a car.
While examining the the scene, deputies said the 39-year-old male victim did not have any injuries consistent with having been in a car accident.
A preliminary investigation determined that the man suffered a drug overdose, according to a press release.
An autopsy will be performed by the Brevard County Medical Examiner's Office.
