Authorities looking for armed carjacking suspect

Authorities in Orange County are searching for an armed carjacker after deputies said a man had his car stolen as he was getting gasoline.

It happened just before 10 a.m. Wednesday morning at a Marathon Gas Station, located on 300 N. Kirkman Rd.  The victim was pumping gas, when he was approached by a man with a handgun.  That suspect pointed the gun at the victim and demanded his vehicle, described as a blue Cadillac CTS.

Investigators said the suspect drove across two counties along Interstate 4 with the stolen 2009 Cadillac, then abandoned it in Plant City.  According to investigators, the thief then carjacked a second vehicle from a construction site, a Ford F150 pickup truck.  They say one of the workers drove after him and the suspect shot at him, hitting the driver's side door.

Deputies said the suspect is still considered armed and dangerous.

"Our ultitmate goal is to end this peacefully, but we'll be prepared for how he chooses to end this," Super said Corporal Larry Mckinnon, with the Hillsborough Co. Sheriff's Office.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
