Artemis II: Photos, videos of rocket launch to the moon
Artemis II rocket lifts off from Kennedy Space Center
NASA’s Artemis II mission lifted off at 6:35 p.m. EDT from Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39B, sending four astronauts aboard the Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft on a journey around the Moon, officials said.
Artemis II successfully lifted off from Florida's Kennedy Space Center on April 1, the start of the crew's 10-day mission around the moon and back.
Those as far away at Tampa, the northeast Florida Panhandle, even parts of Southern Georgia, could potentially see the rocket's flame or contrail as it raced across the night sky. Some as far away as Orlando may have been able to hear the rockets' engines roar.
