Apartment fire causes extensive damage

The Daytona Beach Fire Department says that there was a structure fire Monday morning at the Preserve at Rivers Edge Apartments on S. Palmetto Avenue.

They say that units from Daytona Beach and South Daytona worked to put out the fully involved fire that was affecting two units at the complex. 

The fire was reportedly located in both the ground floor and second floor unit of Building 4 that was occupied by three residents total when the fire started. Three occupants were able to get out of their apartments on their own and were not injured.

The department says that units were able to successfully put out the fire that caused extensive damage to the two units.

The cause is currently unknown.
