Animal rescue group says dog was stolen at adoption event
OVIEDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - An animal rescue group says one of its dogs was stolen during an adoption event in Oviedo.
Abby’s Animal Rescue is now desperately searching for the 3-year-old dog named Chloe.
The group says she disappeared during an adoption event outside a PetSmart on Saturday.
“It was very busy so, you know, there were a lot of people there, and next thing I know when I went to check for the dog, the dog was gone. We looked around and made sure it wasn’t in the van, made sure it wasn’t in the store and someone stole her,” said Abby’s Animal Rescue Dir. Abby Blum.
Blum says she’s frustrated because her group works to place animals in good homes and now they don’t know what happened to Chloe.
She also says the Chihuahua was attached to her mom, a 6-year-old dog named Aubrey, and the organization was only going to allow the two to be adopted together.
“I was really upset, number one, for the mommy because they’re bonded. And number two, that somebody would do that,” Blum said.
We’re told Chloe is micro-chipped.
Blum says she didn’t file a police report, but she’s posted about what happened on social media and plans to put up posters.
