6 USF classrooms closed due to bed bugs
TAMPA (FOX 13) - Bedbugs have returned to University of South Florida's campus. Six classrooms within the Muma College of Business building are closed temporarily after bedbugs were discovered.
In an email to faculty and staff, College of Business dean Moez Limayem said, "in an abundance of caution," the classes scheduled for those rooms will be moved for the rest of the summer semester, which ends June 24. The rest of the building will remain in use.
This isn't the first time the business college's building has been infested with bedbugs. Several of the infected rooms were also infected in 2013. Bedbugs were found in the chairs and furniture, and had to be treated over a month-long period.
Initial treatment of the impacted areas were performed earlier this week, and will be reinspected.
"Be assured that we will follow the appropriate protocols recommended by the experts..." Limayem said in the email.
