4,000 Cancer-fighting kits being distributed to Florida firefighters

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - On Thursday, the State Fire Marshal is lending a hand to those who put their lives on the line every day. He will be giving the first Cancer-fighting kits to firefighters in Orange County.

The kits include tools to help combat cancer, which has rates for firefighters are 15% higher than the rest of the general population. Firefighters run towards the danger and they run towards hazardous materials that are burning.

Cancer-fighting kits include materials that get the hazardous materials off their gear, like spray bottles and garden hoses. These kits are going to firehouses across the state. 4,000 will be distributed.
