4-year-old Florida girl dies after being hit by SUV in driveway, FHP says

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - A four-year-old died Wednesday night after she was hit by an SUV in a driveway in Orange County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

An SUV was parked in a driveway near Robinson Avenue and 13th Street in Apopka, when the driver, a 37-year-old woman, pulled forward, FHP said in a crash report.

The driver didn't notice that the child was standing next to the SUV's rear passenger door, according to FHP.

As the SUV moved forward, the girl fell and was hit by the vehicle, FHP said.

The 4-year-old girl was taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Troopers said the driver was not injured and remained at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
