2 men charged in fatal shooting of Florida Keys couple
TAVERNIER, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say two men have been charged in the fatal shooting last fall of a Florida Keys couple.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office reports in a news release that 33-year-old Jeremey Macauley was charged Monday with two counts of first-degree murder, and 34-year-old Adrian Demblans was charged with being an accessory to murder.
Authorities say 26-year-old Tara Rosado and 30-year-old Carlos Ortiz were fatally shot in their home in October. The woman's children, ages 3, 4 and 8, were home at the time of the shooting.
Investigators say Macauley and Ortiz had been planning to open a tattoo business together but had a disagreement. Authorities say Ortiz then attempted to extort money from Macauley by threatening to report his cocaine-dealing activities. Officials say Macauley told Demblans about threats, and surveillance video showed both men at the couple's home the night they were killed.
Jail records didn't list attorneys for Macauley or Demblans.
