2 dead after car crashes into telephone pole, knocks out power for at least 100 residents

At least 100 people in Orlando are waking up in the dark after a violent crash killed two people.

The deadly crash happened on Carter Street, just off of Orange Blossom Trail.

Orlando Police say that about 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, they made a traffic stop on the 408 near Orange Blossom Trail. The car did not stop though and instead, sped away, down the Orange Blossom Trail exit, and then down Carter Street. There, the car smashed into a telephone pole.

The driver and the passenger in the car were killed.

The crash damaged power lines and cut electricity to the nearby area. About 180 customers don't have power at the moment. The Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) is currently out there working to fix this.
