Artemis II crew headed to far side of the moon
For the first time since 1972, humans have left Earth orbit as NASA’s Artemis II mission heads to the moon. The Orion capsule successfully fired its engines, reaching 24,500 mph and setting a course to slingshot around the far side of the moon before returning to Earth. The crew, now more than 250,000 miles from Earth, will spend over a week in space, testing systems and making history with the deepest human spaceflight in more than 50 years.
