Deltona considers fines of up to $7,500 for abandoning pets

People who abandon pets in Deltona could soon face thousands of dollars in fines under a proposed ordinance aimed at cracking down on animal abandonment. The proposal would establish civil fines starting at $2,500 for a first offense and increasing to as much as $7,500 for repeat violations.
