Zeigler, 80, was convicted of murdering four people—his wife, his in-laws and another man—at his family’s furniture store in Winter Garden on Christmas Eve in 1975, 50 years ago.

Intruder arrested, shot entering DeLand home

An intruder who entered who allegedly forced his way into a DeLand home, carrying a gun, was shot at several times by the homeowner. Now, the DeLand Police Department says the shooter was not charged, but intruder has several pending charges.

Suspect in National Guard DC attack to face murder charge

Mourners in West Virginia bowed their heads in prayer Friday as they honored Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom, a 20-year-old National Guard member who died after an ambush shooting in Washington, D.C. Beckstrom was one of two Guard members attacked Wednesday; Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains in critical condition. Federal prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty against the suspect, a 29-year-old Afghan immigrant who previously worked with the CIA in Kandahar.
