Sheriff: Texas mom allowed man to sexually assault her 5-year-old daughter for $400

A Texas mother is behind bars, accused of allowing a 62-year-old man to sexually assault her 5-year-old daughter for $400.

Shirley Harmon, 36, was charged on Sunday with felony aggravated sexual assault of a child. She was charged with endangering a child, a second-degree felony, when she was first arrested on March 4 after the Ector County Sheriff's Office said she allowed Gary Landreth, 62, to sexually assault her 5-year-old daughter and did not report him.

According to the Odessa American, Harmon admitted to taking $400 from Landreth in exchange for access to her daughter and ignored the girls cries for help.

During an interview at the Harmony Home Advocacy Center, the victim reportedly said that Landreth had touched her inappropriatedly. An exam of the girl confirmed she had been sexually abused.

Landreth had reportedly been abusing the girl from 2017 to 2019. He was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and released on $50,000 bail.

Harmon is being held on $50,000 bond.
