ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - Orlando residents may soon have to share sidewalks with skateboarders and bicyclists.
City leaders are looking to make some tweaks that would allow skateboarders and bicyclists the right to use sidewalks and public right-of-ways as a means to commute.
Monday was the first reading of the ordinance and the second reading will be coming in a few weeks. That is when the public will get the opportunity to chime in.
City leaders tell Fox 35 that they are working to clarify current legislation. Mr. Flynn made it clear that this ordinance will not give skateboarders the right to do rail slides or grind. City right-of-ways have been in place for a while to prevent that. This is simply so people can use skateboards as means to commute.
