Memorial outside DPD headquarters grows

The massive, heartfelt display outside the Dallas Police Department headquarters continues to grow as members of the community stop by to show their support.

The department parked two squad cars outside its building in downtown Dallas to honor those officers killed in the ambush shooting Thursday night. But those squad cars are barely visible now with flowers, balloons, posters and notes covering them.

Many of the notes have messages with sayings like “Back the Blue,” “We Are United” or simply thank you. It was the first thing many officers got to see when they got into work Monday morning.

The Dallas Police Association will host a Stand Strong for Dallas candlelight vigil open to the public Monday from 8 to 9 p.m. at outside Dallas City Hall.

Those who can’t attend but want to show their support can make a donation to www.atodallas.org.
