Melbourne police investigate 1-year-old's death
MELBOURNE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Melbourne police are asking for the public’s help as they investigate the death of a 1-year-old child.
According to police on Thursday, a mother arrived at Melbourne Fire Department Station 71 because her 14-month-old child was sick.
Upon initial examination by rescue personnel, it was determined the child was suffering from a heat-related illness and was immediately transported by ambulance to Holmes Regional Medical Center.
Once at HRMC, doctors had the child flown to AdventHealth for Children in Orlando for further treatment.
Despite their efforts, the child was pronounced dead on Saturday afternoon.
The circumstances surrounding the child’s death are currently being investigated by Melbourne police detectives.
