Kissimmee police officers shoot suspect in leg

An officer-involved shooting is being investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, after Kissimmee police officers shot a man.

Police have identified the man as 50-year-old Lance Wester.

Three officers were dispatched to the area of Wickham Drive early Friday morning. Officers said they received a call about a woman saying her neighbor was threatening her.

There, they say they made contact with a man who started shooting at them.The officers returned fire, hitting the shooter in the leg.

Officials say Wester was taken to the hospital for a non-life threatening injury. 

Neighbor Eric Farken said his family was startled by the sound of gunfire.

"My wife was freaking out and we were all freaking out, obviously. When you hear 12 bullets going off at 10 o' clock at night."

Police say none of the officers were injured.

Wester is charged with attempted homicide.

The three officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, per protocol.
