Dig deeper:
Police said Brown's disappearance is being investigated as a missing/endangered child case – and not an AMBER Alert case, which has to meet specific requirements for an alert to be issued.
Here are the requirements to issue an AMBER Alert in Florida:
- Missing child is under 18
- Law enforcement needs to believe that the missing child has been kidnapped
- Law enforcement needs to believe that the child is in imminent danger of death or serious injury
- There is a detailed description of the child and/or the alleged abductor and/or vehicle
- Law enforcement recommend an AMBER Alert be issued
