After Mount Dora Police seized over 30 illegally used handicap parking passes and issued 70 citations, residents are sharing their frustrations about preventing people in need from using the handicap spots.
Pizza box helps deputies bust wanted burglar
A man, who the Flagler County Sheriff's office said was previously deported, was arrested by ICE for allegedly stealing cash from a Palm Coast home. William Vargas-Carmona, 33, of Jacksonville was arrested after officials said he ransacked a home and stole around $2,500 and $3,000 in cash. Detectives found a pizza box in the home smeared with blood, which they said matched Vargas-Carmona's DNA.
Port St. Lucie officer shot in disturbance call
A Port St. Lucie Police officer was shot while investigating a disturbance on Dec. 1. The officer was transported to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce.
Marion County firefighters accused of battery, released on bond
Four Marion County firefighters were arrested on Nov 26 in connection to beating, waterboarding and kidnapping a fellow employee. They were arrested, with bail set at 100,000, but as of Dec. 1, they've all been released from jail on bond.
1 dead, 1 injured after Melbourne apartment shooting
Officers were responded to a report of a "suspicious incident" at the apartment complex, when they heard gunshots nearby. Melbourne Police officers found two men at Summerset Apartments with gunshot wounds on Dec. 1. One of the men was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound. He is currently in stable condition at the hospital and is expected to recover, authorities said. The other man – later identified as Ricardo Rodriguez, 58, of Melbourne, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Man tased for allegedly stealing snacks in Flagler County
Officials said Joseph Tamburro, 29, broke into his workplace on Thanksgiving night and allegedly used a cinderblock to shatter the front glass door. He also broke the glass to that vending machine and stole snacks. He refused to leave the building and was tased and treated for minor injuries.
