SeaWorld Orlando killer whale 'Katina' dies
SeaWorld Orlando announced Sunday the death of one of its killer whales, "Katina." She was 50. SeaWorld said Katina's health began to decline as she got older, and that her health declined in recent weeks. " Over the last several weeks, our animal care and medical teams have worked around the clock to closely monitor her declining health and as her condition worsened, the decision was made to prioritize her comfort and welfare," SeaWorld said. When she died, teams who worked with her more decades were by her side, the theme park said.

Pulse Memorial update: Crews begin removing items from inside Pulse
On Monday, Dec. 22, crews began removing various items from inside the Pulse Nightclub memorial as part of plans to build a permanent memorial. Items being removed chandeliers, posters, and a bar top. The items will be preserved for potential future use at the memorial, officials said. The construction of the memorial is expected to be completed in 2027.
