Alligator Alcatraz conditions concern Fla. Democrats

Democratic state lawmakers are unhappy with the lack of answers regarding immigration detention efforts and the Trump administration's mass deportation policies. State Representatives Anna Eskamani and Carlos Guillermo Smith were at the Orlando ICE office today and given no answers to their questions. One week after a group of state lawmakers were denied entry into Alligator Alcatraz, the new illegal immigration detention camp in the Everglades due to safety concerns. Lawmakers are concerned with the conditions there and planned for an unannounced visit Saturday. State officials got wind of the plan and are now offering guided tours to state and federal officials, who are concerned those tours will feature 'sanitized' versions of the facility rather than oversight of the actual conditions of the facility.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium rescues rare dolphins

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium recently welcomed four female rough-toothed dolphins deemed non-releasable by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The dolphins will be part of aquarium's resident population and contribute to their educational mission.

Texas flooding: Rescue crews continue search

The death toll from the July 4th weekend flooding in Central Texas has climbed to 108. Most of those deaths happened in Kerr County, where at least 87 people have died, including 30 children. At least five girls and a counselor from Camp Mystic are still missing. Over the holiday weekend, officials say crews have been able to rescue more than 850 people.
