5-year-old Tavares boy taken by family 'unlawfully' during DCF investigation, police say

Update (12/16): Officials issued an AMBER Alert shortly after midnight for Jace Saunders. He is believed to be with his grandmother, Kelly Day-Dasilva. She is charged with kidnapping and interference of child custody related to a DCF investigation, Tavares police said. There whereabouts are unknown.

Police in Tavares are searching for a 5-year-old boy diagnosed with autism, who they believe was taken "unlawfully" by family members, according to the Tavares Police Department.

Officials said Jace Saunders was last seen near the area of Summerall Park around 1:19 p.m. wearing pajamas and a graphic tee shirt.

He is believed to be in custody of his grandmother, Kelly Dasilva and could be traveling in a black Honda Accord. 

Police said Jace is semi-verbal.

Officials are urging anyone with information on Jace's whereabouts to contact the Tavares Police Department.
