
U.K. variant becoming dominant COVID strain in U.S.
After 13 months of the original COVID-19 virus, there is a new dominant strain. The UK variant, first detected in Southern England in December of 2020, now accounts for more than half of all new infections in the U.S. and it's still spreading quickly, fueled by youth sports and an increase in large gatherings.
